Industrial wastewater and wastewater treatment

Wastewater treatment:

A sewage treatment plant, or STP for short, also called a waste water treatment plant, or WWTP for short, purifies waste water from household and business' sewage systems. A sewage treatment plant treats waste water from sewers before it is added to the surface water. The plant takes the incoming dirty water, the 'influent’, and treats it in a number of steps. The treated water is called the effluent.

Industrial waste water from certain industries does not often satisfy the required standards for discharge, yet alone to be reused in the process, which is why many industrial businesses have their own water treatment plant.
The waste water treatment process is split into several steps, including:
   1. Primary treatment that focuses on removing particles based on their size. The systems applied to primary treatment include:

  • Screening
  • Sedimentation system to remove heavy particles
  • Oil/water separators to remove free oils and fats
  • Coagulation and flocculation to flocculate emulsified materials
  • A flotation system to remove fine separable materials

   2. Secondary treatment or biological treatment, which focuses on removing organic materials through such methods as:

  • Aerobic biological treatment systems, removing pollution by aerating the waste water.
  • Anaerobic organic treatment systems, removing pollutants under anaerobic conditions.

   3. Tertiary treatment or biological treatment, focused on removing nutrients. The systems used for this purpose include:

  • Sand filters
  • Media filters
  • Active charcoal filters
  • Aerated active charcoal filters
  • Disinfection
  • Membrane systems, MF, UF, and RO types

Bedu Pumps supplies a wide range of submersible pumps, dry-installed centrifugal pumps with large waste conduits, eccentric worm-gear pumps, dosing pumps, aeration systems, mixers, flow makers, polymer production plants etc for these processes. Bedu Pumps also specialises in repairing and reconditioning these products, no matter the brand.
