Pulse dampeners are predominantly used in systems which have pressure spikes. These pressure spikes might be caused by, among other things, the quick sealing of valves, expansion of a liquid in a closed system or by pumps which have a pulsating flow.

Air pressure spikes can cause considerable damage to pumps, valves or other devices in the system. It is therefore always advisable to first examine whether the cause of an air peak can be removed. If this is easy in practise then pulse dampeners can be applied.

There are many different types of pulse dampeners, the material of the housing, the material of the diaphragm and the gas supply system can all be chosen. In each situation the exact process data must be known first to enable the correct selection to be made and optimum performance achieved.
